‘The Librarians’ Christian Kane To Reprise Jacob Stone Role In CW Spinoff ‘The Next Chapter’
A very familiar face will be returning to The Librarians: The Next Chapter. The Librarians‘ Christian Kane has signed on to reprise his role as Jacob Stone in the CW spinoff of the fantasy adventure series opposite Jessica Green, in a recurring role.
From writer and executive producer Dean Devlin, The Librarians: The Next Chapter is a spinoff of the original TV series The Librarians, which followed the adventures of the custodians of a magical repository of the world’s most powerful and dangerous supernatural artifacts. The new series centers on a “Librarian” from the past, who time traveled to the present and now finds himself stuck here. When he returns to his castle, which is now a museum, he inadvertently releases magic across the continent. He is given a new team to help him clean up the mess he made, forming a new team of Librarians.
Born and raised in Oklahoma, Kane’s Jacob Stone has spent his entire life trying to fit in with the cowboys he works alongside over at the oil pipeline. But the truth is, Stone is a genius when it comes to art, architecture and history. He is the perfect mix of brains and brawn and is equally skilled at analyzing a Bernini as he is at cracking heads in a bar-brawl. Having been a Librarian now for over a decade, Stone is tasked by The Library to mentor and help Charlie (Green) find her confidence so she can fulfill her dream of becoming a permanent Guardian.
Dean Devlin serves as showrunner and will executive produce alongside Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson of Electric Entertainment. Noah Wyle is also executive producer. Mark Franco of Electric Entertainment and Jonathan English of Balkanic Media will also produce.
Kane is currenting filming season three of Amazon’s Leverage: Redemption in New Orleans – a reimagining of mothership Leverage, which aired for five seasons on TNT. Kane is reprising his role as Eliot Spencer, retrieval specialist/resident badass. Kane also stars in Devlin’s Almost Paradise as Alex Walker, a former DEA agent who was forced into early retirement. He’s repped by BRS/Gage Talent Agency and Goodman Genow Schenkman.
