Dean Devlin honored with Saturn Award
Los Angeles, CA (June 24, 2011) – At last night’s 37th Annual Saturn Awards, held in Burbank, CA, The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films recognized Electric Entertainment chairman and CEO Dean Devlin with the prestigious Dr. Donald A. Reed Founder’s Award to honor his many box office hits. Devlin’s erstwhile writing and producing partner, acclaimed film director, screenwriter, and producer Roland Emmerich was on hand to present the award. Over the last twenty years, Devlin has co-written and produced some of the most successful feature films of all time. He co-wrote and produced (in collaboration with Emmerich) Stargate, Godzilla and Independence Day, which grossed over $800 million worldwide. The duo again joined forces to produce the Mel Gibson period drama, The Patriot, which Emmerich also directed. The Patriot was nominated for three Academy Awards. In television, Devlin currently Executive Produces “Leverage,” the action-packed TNT series starring Oscar®-winner Timothy Hutton. The fourth season of “Leverage” premieres on TNT Sunday, June 26th at 9:00 PM. “Leverage” was also acknowledged at the Saturn Awards with four nominations, including Best Syndicated/Cable Television Series, Best Actor in Television (Timothy Hutton), and Best Supporting Actress in Television (Gina Bellman and Beth Riesgraf). Fan-Con 2011 Report
Even though Con-Con was cancelled this year, some of our most hard-core #Leverage fans still gathered during that early weekend in June to celebrate their favorite show. Determined to “steal their own fun”, as their self–made t–shirts said, the #Grifters descended upon Portland, OR and organized a full weekend of fun and games, which included fan dinners, Leverage Trivia contests, and roller skating at the Oaks Park Ring. Touched by the dedication of our core group of super fans, the Leverage and Electric Entertainment teams decided to help make this weekend even more memorable by hosting a couple of special events. There was a private tour for the fans of the downtown Portland locations used in the show, a surprise sneak-peek at the season 4 premiere episode followed by a Q & A session with cast and crew and finally a tour of the Leverage stages lead by Executive Producer, John Rogers. The fans loved it! A series of photos and a more personal account of the event can be found here, at one of our Grifters’ blog – Jen Erickson – http://jenniferlynnerickson.typepad.com/blog/2011/06/keep-portland-weird.html More behind-the-scenes from this year’s Fan-Con to come!
